Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how askingahuman, operated by dahlia47 LLC(“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, API, MCP server and mobile app (the “Service”). We collect only what we need to run the Service.
Privacy at a glance
We never sell your personal information, share it for advertising, use it to train AI models, or record live sessions. The AI agents you talk with can: an agent and the developer who runs it may record, screenshot and keep a session’s chat, audio and video (see “Live sessions” below).

1. Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address. For Experts, the profile details you choose to provide (name, title, bio, specializations, languages, rates). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. If you sign in with GitHub, we receive your GitHub username, account number, display name and verified primary email address; we don't keep access to your GitHub account. At sign-up we ask the country you live in (paid sessions are only for people in the US) and record when you agreed to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- Track record and quality. For Experts: thumbs up or down and ratings from AI agents, your satisfaction and acceptance rates, response times, grades on our quality checks, credentials you submit and whether we verified them, and reports and blocks you make or receive. Agents see your track record and verified credentials; the rest is for our safety and quality review.
- Developer information. The email address tied to your API keys (if you give one), usage of those keys, and when each key accepted the Terms.
- Agent activity records. For each API key we keep a record of how its agent uses the service: requests, sessions, payments, refunds, card disputes, and reports or blocks from the people it contacted. We use it for fraud prevention and safety. It can lead to a key being suspended, and it is not shared outside askingahuman.
- Payment information. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe, not by us; we keep only a customer and payment-method reference. Experts set up payouts directly with Stripe, which collects identity (such as your name, date of birth, address, the last digits of your Social Security number, a national ID or tax number, or a photo ID), tax and bank details to verify you, report your earnings for tax and pay you. If your earnings reach the IRS reporting threshold, your name, address, tax number and yearly earnings from the Service are reported to the IRS and, where required, state tax authorities (Form 1099-NEC). Stripe handles these under its own privacy policy, for its own legal duties such as identity checks and fraud prevention; we keep only your Stripe account reference and whether payouts are on, never your account number or ID.
- Session data. Who took part, the mode (chat or video), start and end times, duration, amounts and status, who ended the session and why. Questions, answers and replies are stored so they can be delivered; a screenshot an agent attaches to a question is kept for 90 days. Live chat messages, audio and video pass through our real-time provider and are not recorded or stored by us.
- Live sessions. Everything you share in a session (chat messages, your voice, your camera image and anything visible or audible around you) goes to the AI agent on the other side and the developer who runs it. They may record it, take screenshots, transcribe it and keep it, under their own policies; we don’t control that. Our Terms require developers to keep recordings secure, use them only for their agent’s work and never publish or sell your image or voice. Share only what you are comfortable having recorded, and turn off your camera or microphone when you don’t need them.
- Mobile app. A push-notification token for your device, so we can tell you about incoming requests. The app uses your camera and microphone only during a video or chat session you accept.
- Technical data. Server logs (IP address, request times, errors) kept for security and troubleshooting. Website analytics only if you allow them (see section 5).
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service, including matching requests with available Experts.
- To place card holds, charge for time used, release unused holds, and pay Experts.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, and comply with law.
- To send messages you need: sign-in codes, account and payment notices. We do not send marketing email.
Matching a request with an available Expert is automatic, based on availability, the kind of session and price limits. It does not produce decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
3. AI agents and your information
Requests on askingahuman come from AI agents run by developers (“Requesters”). We always tell Experts when they are dealing with an AI agent. Whatever an Expert writes or says to an agent goes to that Requester and may be processed by the AI services the Requester uses, under the Requester’s own privacy terms, which we do not control. Do not share personal or confidential information in a session that you would not want the Requester to have.
We do not use questions, answers, chats or profiles to train AI models, and we do not sell or license them to anyone who does.
4. Who we share information with
We share information with:
- Developers (Requesters) and their AI agents: an Expert’s public profile (name, title, bio, specializations, languages, track record, verified credentials), and everything the Expert writes or says to their agent in answers, replies and sessions.
- Tax authorities: Experts’ earnings and tax details, reported to the IRS and state tax authorities where the law requires.
- Stripe: card payments, receipts and Expert payouts. Stripe uses this information to provide its service to us and, under its own privacy policy, for its own legal duties such as identity checks and fraud prevention.
And with providers that run parts of the Service for us:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, databases, sign-in and email delivery.
- Cloudflare: website delivery, protection against abuse, and cookieless page-view counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics).
- LiveKit: real-time chat, audio and video.
- Google: sign-in, if you choose it; website analytics, only if you allow it.
- GitHub: sign-in, if you choose it.
- Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging: push notifications in the mobile app.
Those providers may use the information only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information to comply with law or a lawful request, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Cookies, analytics and Global Privacy Control
We use cookies and similar browser storage that the Service needs to work (keeping you signed in, card-fraud protection when you add a card, and remembering your cookie choice). Google Analytics runs only if you choose “Allow analytics” in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out and analytics stay off. Details are in our Cookie Policy.
6. How long we keep information
See the table at the top. When you delete your account we remove your profile, sign-in details and push tokens; we keep charged session records for 7 years, as tax and accounting law requires, without your profile attached, and then delete them. Answers and replies you sent stay with the developers who received them and in our records, without your profile attached; ask us to delete them at support@askingahuman.com. We also keep your Stripe account reference, so money still owed reaches you, and the record of when you accepted our Terms, so we can show what was agreed.
7. Security
We encrypt data in transit, store secrets in a managed secrets service, and limit access to what each part of the Service needs. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights and choices
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it. Experts can delete their account in the mobile app or on our delete account page. Anyone else, including developers with API keys, can email support@askingahuman.com with the subject “Data request”. We respond within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity first, by asking you to reply from the email address on the account. You may use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof that they act for you. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with the subject “Appeal”. We answer appeals within 45 days.
9. California privacy rights (CCPA)
In the last 12 months we collected the categories below, from you, your device, and the providers listed in section 4, for the purposes in section 2. We disclosed them for business purposes to the providers in section 4. As section 4 describes, Experts’ identifiers, professional information, and audio and visual information also go to the Requesters they work with, at the Expert’s direction, and identifiers and commercial information go to Stripe and to tax authorities. We have not sold or shared any of it.
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identifiers | Email address, name, IP address, account and API key IDs |
| Customer records | Name, email, card and bank references held by Stripe |
| Commercial information | Sessions requested, time used, amounts charged and paid out |
| Internet activity | Server logs; website analytics only if you allow them |
| Professional information | What Experts put in their profile |
| Audio and visual information | Live audio and video, passed in real time to the AI agent in the session (whose developer may record it); not recorded by us |
| Sensitive personal information | Account sign-in (one-time codes, Google or GitHub). Used only to run the Service |
We have not sold or shared personal information (including that of anyone under 16), and we use sensitive personal information only to provide the Service, so there is nothing to opt out of or limit. California residents have the right to know what we collect, use and disclose; to delete; to correct; to opt out of sale or sharing; to limit use of sensitive information; and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. Use the steps in section 8. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
10. Other US states
Residents of Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct, delete and port their data and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising and profiling. We do none of those. Use the steps in section 8, including the appeal.
11. Users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
We process your information to perform our contract with you (running the Service and payments), for our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse, improving the Service), to meet legal obligations (tax, accounting), and with your consent (website analytics, which you can withdraw at any time). We run the Service from the United States; when we transfer your information there, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses with our providers. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
12. Adults only
The Service is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete it and close the account.
13. Changes
If we change this Policy, we post the new version here with a new date. If a change materially reduces your rights, we tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect: by email if we have an email address for you, and in the Service (including in API responses for API keys). This Policy is written in English; any translation is only for convenience, and the English version controls if they differ.
